Kevin Bhatt, Chairman & Member of the Executive Committee of the Board
Kevin joined Long Ridge in 2010 and serves as a Partner. Prior to joining Long Ridge, Kevin was a Vice President with AEA Investors, a leading middle market private equity firm. Prior to joining AEA Investors, Kevin was an associate at TH Lee Putnam Ventures, where he served as a member of the firm’s financial services and business services teams. Prior to joining THLPV, Kevin worked at McKinsey & Company, where he was a member of the Financial Services Group.
Kevin received a B.A. in Economics with Honors from Princeton University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Lee Chertavian, Board Member & Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board
Lee Chertavian has extensive experience in starting and running financial services and technology companies. Most recently, he was the Chairman and CEO of Placemark Investments, a SAAS-based financial technology/ investment firm. Placemark was backed by several prominent venture firms including Flybridge, Ascent, North Hill and RBC Ventures. Lee managed the growth of Placemark to nearly $16 billion in assets under management (AUM) from over 45,000 clients and led its successful sale to publicly traded Envestnet (NYSE:ENV).
Prior to Placemark, Lee was one of the earliest executives at Affiliated Managers Group (NYSE: AMG). Lee helped lead AMG’s growth from $1 billion in AUM over $92 billion in AUM during which time the firm also went public. Before AMG, Lee started several companies for privately held Trans National Group including a mutual fund company and credit card companies in Canada, the United Kingdom, France and Germany. He served as a consultant for Bain and Company and held positions with Fidelity Investments, Bankers Trust Company and Equitable Life. He currently also serves on the board of New England Pension.
Lee has an MBA, with distinction (top 10% of class) from Harvard Business School and a BA, cum laude, from Bowdoin College. He and his wife reside in Sherborn, MA.
Jeff Cohen, Board Member & Member of the Executive Committee of the Board
Jeff Cohen began his formal education in Florida where he attended Florida Atlantic University after skipping his first two years of college. Two and a half years later he received a Bachelor’s degree in history and a minor in taxation. He received his CLU designation from the American College.
Jeff has been in the financial services industry for over 40 years. During that time he has been a wealth transfer specialist for affluent families, the developer of unique tax concepts utilized by thousands of individuals and their advisors and the president of a New England-based life insurance company. He has also developed unique financial and investment strategies designed to provide reasonable returns with downside protection in volatile markets.
Jim Brown, Board Member
Jim co-founded Long Ridge in 2007 and serves as Managing Partner. Prior to founding Long Ridge, Jim was a Senior Partner at TH Lee Putnam Ventures, a $1.1B growth capital firm, where he led the firm’s financial services investment efforts. Prior to joining THLPV, Jim served as a Senior Vice President of GE Equity where he led investments in financial services, technology, consumer and media companies. Prior to joining GE Equity, Jim worked at Lehman Brothers as a Vice President and at Bain & Company as a Consultant.
Jim received a B.S. from New York University and an M.B.A. with Honors from the Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Gary Nemer, Board Member
Gary Nemer was the Chief Financial Officer of Buchalter Nemer and served on the executive committee from 1990 to 2000. While there he had a broad commercial practice in all aspects of corporate finance law, including credit restructuring, dispute resolution, settlement structuring, and transactional corporate and real estate matters. His representative matters included the restructuring of a $50 million real estate obligation, participation in long term lease renegotiations, structuring multi-borrower/multi-state credit facilities, consulting on business issues regarding bank operations issues, supervising litigation in connection with a multi-million dollar scheme and the recovery of $20 million diverted from a financial institution. He is an investor in EQIS and from 2013 until 2017 held various administrative positions within the company. He has also served as corporate counsel and acting CEO of a high-tech telecommunications company. Gary is AV Preeminent rated by Martindale Hubbell.
Gary holds a BA from University of California Los Angeles and a JD from the University of Southern California.
